THE 5TH ANNUAL 2009 POMPTON DAY FESTIVAL THIS LABOR DAY WEEKEND!

Pompton Day is historically held on Labor Day weekend on Lakeside Avenue in Pompton Lakes. This year our event will commence on Sunday, September 6th, rain date is Monday, September 7th.  This year bring our festival to its 5th anniversary celebration.  2009 Pompton Day Festival ceremony will be held at 12:00 pm at Lakeside Park.  Lakeside Avenue will be closed from 8:00 am to 11:00 pm from Romain Avenue to Perrin Avenue for walking traffic until 11:00 pm.

 Last year’s festival yielded approximately fifteen-thousand (15,000) attendees!  This is a FREE event (excluding some events that require a registration fee)!  Our 2009 Pompton Day Festival is open to ALL whether you are a Pompton Lakes residents or from other township, city or borough!

 Attendees this year will enjoy the many events and shopping happening at this year’s Pompton Day Festival!  We have over 100 vendors!  Events include the FISHING DERBY, KICK-OFF 5K RUN, PLYWOOD REGATTA RACE on Pompton Lake, various sporting events and games at Lakeside School field, , POMPTON IDOL CONTEST and FEAR FACTOR.   The day’s full schedule can be viewed or printed out on our Pompton Day Festival facebook or on our website at  www.pomptonday.com .

 A new addition this year from 12 to 5 pm is GUITAR HERO AND ROCK BAND at Lakeside School!  Live Music will make a return this year to Pompton Day!  Come enjoy NORTHERN COMFORT – the seven-piece Southern Rock/Classic Rock band that will be performing at the Lakeside Pavilion LIVE from 5 to 7 pm.  Explosive finale of the day’s festival will be our electrifying FIREWORKS DISPLAY at approximately 8:45 pm over Pompton Lake.

Organizations responsible for the planning and funding of this year Pompton Day Festival are the Pompton Lakes Recreation Commission, Pompton Day Planning Committee, Pompton Lakes' government departments and wells as numerous volunteer organizations and our three main sponsors Tilcon and West Parkway Ambulatory Center and Thatcher Magee’s.

 As in the past, Pompton Day proceeds will be dedicated to our Teen Center for ongoing renovation, maintenance and activities.  This center is a valuable asset to our community and provides positive activities for the youth of Pompton Lakes.
